Breastfeeding Techniques Fine-Tuned

Once you have the basics down and your baby is eating and you are happy here are some fine tuning techniques to help make your breastfeeding experience all the better:

Burping Cloths – keep some close when you breastfeed, especially in the early weeks.  You may notice that you use several after a feeding so it is a good idea to keep 10-12 close by

Chair – everyone has a favorite chair, make sure yours has good support for your back, arms and legs.

Climate – your home should be a pleasant temperature and your chosen nusring location should be away from drafty areas or hot and stuffy spots.

Drink – keep something close at had for it is likely you will become thirsty as your baby starts to nurse.

Lighting – While bright lights don’t seem to affect nursing babies they may make it more difficult for you to relax.

Magazine/Book – Some mothers have found that they can combine the time spent breastfeeding with a good read.  it can be a great way to pass the ttime.

Music/TV – Another way to help you get more out of your time breastfeeding is to have a radio or TV in the room.  Be sure to keep the remote handy.

Internet – Although it can be a bit of a challenge you may find yourself able to nurse and surf quite easily.

Pillows – You will find that pillows are your best accessory. They provide that last added bit of comfort that can seem to elude you when pillows are absent.  They area also fantastic too help position your baby.

Table – a small table or other easily reachable surface to hold your drink, remotes, book, laptop, etc is a most handy addition.

You may find  that there are other things you need or wish to leave out during your breastfeeding sessions.  As you continue you’ll get more into the habit of know what makes life easier and what you can live without.
