Breast pumps
Breast pumps come in several general styles depending on their expected use.
Hospital-grade electric breast pumps – As the name suggests these are generally used in hospitals or on occasions where an accurate substitute for a baby’s sucking is needed. These pumps are useful to stimulate milk production and larger volume milk collection in instances when a child is unable to nurse on their own and breast milk is the desired nourishment. These are generally larger pumps and not easily portable.
AC powered portable pumps – The beast means for expressing milk at home for mothers who have the need or desire to express often. This maybe due to the mother returning to work or a special needs child that has more unique feeding needs.
Battery-operated pumps – light and useful and designed for the mother on the go who wants to keep up her milk supply and continually breastfeed her child.
Hand-operated breast pumps – the least expensive option in the group. It provides the advantages of the battery-operated breast pumps without as much initial financial cost. They are sightly harder to operate than the electrical counterparts.
